August 5th 2011 - CMT Music Festival Contest! We placed top 8 Nation Wide!
First of all, we want to say THANK YOU TO ALL WHO VOTED for Sweet Diezel for the CMT MUSIC FESTIVAL CONTEST. We are currently in 4th place but we have time to catch up; August 10th is the close and we are sending out our pleas to press "like" so we can move up. At this point it's a numbers game. Who's friends on facebook press the most "likes". We are the only band from the Niagara region to place in this nation wide contest and we are hoping our town/s come through for us!
Contests cause STRESS! No matter how you slice it, it's that niggling feeling that doesn't leave your body from day 1 till it closes! We feel honored to have been selected as one of the top 8 finalists but now it's a game of how many of our facebook friends will press the word "Like" which is proving to be more of a feat than actually placing as top 8 nation wide! Could this be a life changing contest performing at this years 2011 CMT Music Festival??? Maybe, maybe not, maybe a new launch pad, maybe a new networking opportunity but for sure a great time and a notch in our belt to say we did it. I always think about how I'm going to look back on my life when I'm 90 (yes in my mind I live long) and I always think about how I will feel regarding my music career. I don't know where it will take me, I do know it makes me happy for the most part but how will I feel? Will I have regret? Will I have shame? Will I feel vindicated? Will I feel proud? Will I...? I would love to look back at this opportunity and have the warm and fuzzy feeling but today the only feeling is a stomach ache! In no way are we giving up. Full throttle all the way. Ian (our manager) has been online sending messages and getting us votes. Thank you Mr. Ian Faiers, you ROCK! I remember when Pia from American Idol was voted off; my jaw dropped because she is/was my favourite performer on last seasons American Idol. She could sing just about anything, her range, her look, her smile to me was perfect. When she was voted off I was completely disheartened but America voted and she didn't place. She was worth the vote but didn't receive the votes to keep her in the game. Please help us stay in the game...we hope we take the Niagara Region to the CMT Music Festival this year! It's a small music community, one we live in, play in, share in and support! If you ever need my vote, just ask and you will receive! CHEERS! Angela :-) xoxo p.s. If you have not voted "like" for us and wish to do so please visit our website for complete links and simple instruction. 30 seconds of your time will help us feel fine! http://www.SweetDiezel.com[less] What's Up?
What's Up?
Posted on Jul 20, 2011 at 10:01 AM Hello hello hello, what's new with you? What's new with us? Sarah and I have been enjoying a continuous string of gigs in the last few months. Since winning as a grande finalist in the 2011 NIagara Talent Search in May, we've been enjoying the calls and invites to do gigs in and around town as well as out of town. Never say small fries to any contest because you never know who you are going to meet where and when! Nothing small about performing at the Greg Frewin Theatre and having the King of Magic himself, Mr. Greg Frewin, host the event. Today should be a blast; heading to the studio in Hamilton to work on our upcoming EP. Still working on our own songs and the one niggling yet fun task of picking a cover tune that we want to redo in our own style. Any suggestions? Looking for a song with great vocal dynamics and must have an upbeat, strong positive, message! I can't believe a year has passed since living in Nashville. Where Summer's are HOTTER than one can withstand. Tomorrow is supposed to be one of Ontario's HOTTEST days in the past 5 years. Literally scorching and brain draining at times but rehearsing and working hard can never stop. With two gigs on Friday, one Street Party Festival in Orillia during the day and then rushing back in our bus (motor home) to Niagara on the Lake to perform with Steve Goldberger and his band for a Tribute to Bob Dylan. Private gig on Saturday then the weekly open mic on Sunday! Always music, always feeling a sense of urgency but always time to relax, smile and have a great time! "Summer is hear and the time is right for dancing in the street"! CHEERS! Angela :-) We're working it and doing it every day!
March 17th 2011
We're working it and doing it every day! Playing, writing, planning; getting things going musically and mentally. LOL. Lot's happening; talent show audition for Sarah as I write she's off in Hamilton for a potential scholarship program and she's a smart cookie, I'm sure she'll knock em dead! For the pair of us we have an audition early Sunday morning in the Falls. Saturday rehearsal with the boys; I'm making bbq to add the good times and of course the weekly Sunday Open Mic! My abs feel great after my workout and YES it's a GREAT DAY! Off soon to drink green beer and watch Anam Glas perform! :-) CHEERS! -Angela :-) |

Monday April 12th 2010 Oddly enough when we write together we're not even in the same room due to the fact that Steve and I live in Canada and Sheriff is in the USA! So to my two compadres; I love ya! Let's keep this going and have some fun on the road! Tonight Steve and I are heading to the studio to track vocals for our songs; "Catfish Friday Nights" "It Ain't You" "That's the Kiss I Used to Know" Okay lunch break is over back to work... April 13th is a great day hurray hurray! A lot that I hoped for I received and am very grateful. Then there was a lot that I planned on that I achieved. So for me, that was a great day hurray hurray!
God Speed!
End note; reality setting in...
Kiwi is chirping and I'm catching up on paper work (boring) but avoiding the dreaded taxes; the deadline is soon approaching and I have not started yet. AH!

June 21st 2010 The drive to Nashville was a long one and I did it alone. A lot of contemplation and anger and depression existed throughout the drive to my new home in Nashville. Originally it was intended for me and my music partner to set forth as a duo and make a go of it. The plans were made and the apartment was furnished and then all of a sudden my music partner (still friend) deciding he wasn't going to come along for the ride anymore. Since his decision was made I also found myself; the REAL me in all the chaos. I've always been an independent person and will remain so. I'm a leader and realize that some need to be lead and some need a lot of comfort and certainty. I'm not one of them. I love security and comfort but I also have the ability to loose everything of comfort to enjoy FULL FREEDOM! A broken marriage, a broken music partnership perhaps but this girl is STRONG! I like to call myself SWEET DIEZEL! It's the two sides of who I am. I can be sweet and loving and kind and generous and then I can be a thrill seeker who loves to challenge myself and do things that a lot of people would faint or shrivel up. Looking forward to upcoming shows and songwriting sessions and honing in on the gifts that have been given to me from GOD! My Mom & Dad have always taught me to follow my heart and dreams but only if I had the talent to fulfill my dreams. They say I do have the talent but having your parents tell you that doesn't mean a thing cause parents will often tell their kids false hoods because that's what parents do to not hurt our feelings. ONWARD AND UPWARD! MUAH, |
